The Challenge: The board of directors and senior leadership needed to understand the current state of HR operational effectiveness; legal compliance and people program competencies.
The Solution: Evaluate full assessment of current HR program and staff. Serve as expert and objective resource for internal HR team members. Develop an HR strategic plan along with a detailed action plan that establishes objectives and prioritizes programs for optimal implementation. Determine "what is" versus "what should be" or "what could be."
The Result: Cura HR established best practices and benchmarks that senior leadership, the board of directors and the internal HR team can reference now and in the future. The Challenge: With a recent headquarter relocation and a senior leadership/equity transition the client was searching for a fully outsourced HR solution that would provide best in class human resources support, processes, practices and people programs.
The Solution: Assess existing HR processes, efficiencies and compliance gaps. Create a multi-year strategic plan to increase effectiveness of organization's HR processes and programs, while adding additional strategic people initiatives.
The Result: Cura HR created and managed strategic Human Capital Management Plans for 2013, 2014 and 2015. They identified redundancies and efficiencies; reducing spending on human resources functions by 50%. In addition they developed consistent practices & policies including developing & implementing company performance, talent management & recognition programs, planning & managing multiple reorganizations for optimal staffing needs and launching new HRIS & payroll vendors.

The Challenge: The client required additional resources during a large compensation system implementation.
The Solution: Alleviate the internal compensation team by taking on the day-to-day North American compensation activities including salary recommendations, compensation administration and analysis, benchmark and bonus requests.

With more than 15 years of experience, Lyssa understands the importance of creating a strong HR infrastructure and employee-centric, scalable programs to meet company needs in an ever-changing, global marketplace.
Throughout her career, Lyssa has created strong, long-term partnerships with clients and team members. Consulting since 2010, Lyssa works with growing businesses in both the private and public sectors. A key member of the Cura HR team since 2010, Sarah brings over 15 years of progressive HR experience as a strategic HR Leader and Business Partner, Organizational Development Specialist and Talent Acquisition Professional. Sarah helps clients leverage effective HR operations to drive business results.
Sarah brings experience partnering with a wide variety of businesses; from large global enterprises, to start-ups and private equity backed environments. Sarah has expertise in several HR disciplines; policy and program development, HR compliance, compensation analysis, performance and talent management, organizational change management, RIF planning, and M&A/Divestiture support.
Before Cura HR, Sarah was an HR Business Partner and Organizational Development Project Specialist at QVC where she supported 350+ employees and participated in the creation of the company's performance management program. She also has experience as a Regional HR leader in the financial and insurance services industries; as a talent acquisition specialist for a technical consulting company; and in leadership development for GE Capital.
Sarah graduated from the University of Colorado's Leeds School of Business with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management and Marketing. Sarah maintains her professional certifications; Professional Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM-CP, to keep current with employment law and best practices in human capital management. Leah brings over 13 years of experience in human resources, business management and administration, to Cura HR. She consults with organizations to set sound HR practices to support their growth by understanding their unique challenges, identifying the best HR strategies and implementing them successfully.
Leah began working with Cura in 2011 providing HR Management for clients with Professional Employer Organization (PEO) relationships. In addition to managing vendors and people programs, Leah has created performance management processes, manages incident and employee relations, and all areas of compliance for clients. She enjoys the benefits side of HR – from helping to design benefit programs to helping communicate the value to employees.
Leah started her HR career in 2000 at Level 3 communications supporting the recruiting team as well as providing HR support to the sales and operations groups. She gained unique insights into leading through change by working with the business through growth and downsizing.
Leah graduated with a B.A. in Business Management with a minor in Human Resource Management from Colorado State University. In her spare time, Leah can be found attending many events with her husband and six children. Whenever possible she can be found running, hiking or just reading a good book. Nicole brings over 12 years of extensive experience in human resources to Cura HR.
Nicole joined Cura HR in 2014 supporting clients as an HR business partner, coaching management and company leaders, facilitating HR process improvements, and managing special projects. She takes pride in developing new programs for employees, ensuring HR is contributing to the bottom line, and bridging the gap between employee advocacy and ensuring company values and senior leadership's expectations are met.
Prior to Cura HR, Nicole grew her career working in a variety of roles for Nordstrom Department Stores. Nicole focused on on-boarding, training and development, meeting productivity and sales goals, employee relations and mentoring her team to management positions. After switching gears in 2013, she became an HR Manager for a start-up technology company, which led to a breadth of HR experiences; including policy and program creation, change management, and M&A experience.
Nicole graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University. She maintains her professional certifications, Professional Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM-CP, to keep current with the ever-changing work environment. Nicole is a mentor with the University of Colorado's Leeds School of Business Professional Mentorship Program and recently became a Community HR Partner for the CU Business Intensive Certificate (CUBIC) program. When she's not working, Nicole loves trying all the local restaurants and breweries with her family and friends. She also enjoys cross-training boot camp and cycling through Boulder County. Sima brings over 9 years of experience in HR operations, including systems and process improvement, to the Cura team. She consults with large, multi-national clients as well as start-up organizations to support the unique challenges related to the ever-changing trends in HR, regulations and technology strategies.
Sima became a consultant because she values the profound impact effective HR teams can have. She has helped clients redesign their operational and compliance practices; conducted searches for new service providers and systems solutions; set-up and trained teams on new technologies; and designed complex leave and global wellness programs. Sima also has M&A due diligence experience and the subsequent integration that follows. She supports Cura clients with compensation analysis and all related compliance, processes and practices.
Before joining Cura in 2015, Sima was a Benefits Analyst at Level 3 Communications and spent several years growing her career in HR operations at Quiznos, the sub sandwich franchisor. She first discovered her interest in HR working as an intern for HR at the URS Corporation, an engineering firm with over 50,000 employees worldwide.
Sima graduated from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, with a B.S. in Science (Life Sciences) and a B.S. in Psychology (Neuroscience). Sima is working towards her Certified Compensation Professional certification. When not exploring their Sloans Lake neighborhood, Sima and her husband (along with their beloved black lab) are mountain bound; hiking, snowshoeing or snowboarding the many slopes in the region. Jessica brings over 15 years of comprehensive experience in strategic human resources and business partner support to Cura HR.
Jessica joined the Cura HR team in 2015 and enjoys collaborating with her clients to find the most effective solutions to help them reach their goals. Throughout this process, she leverages her proficiencies, which include employee relations, project management, policy implementation, recruitment and on-boarding, employee communications, training, and talent management.
Before joining Cura HR, Jessica was an Area Business Partner for 24 Hour Fitness where she provided multi-level support to all 30 Colorado clubs and above-club management. Prior to that she spent seven years with Vail Resorts as a Strategic HR Manager where she created, implemented and evaluated policies and procedures, managed compliance programs, and oversaw the HR integration of new resort acquisitions. Jessica has also worked across a range of industries including steel, technology and medical.
Jessica received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Human Resource Management and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship. She has had her PHR (Professional Human Resources) certification since 2006, and received her SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Management – Certified Professional) since its inception in 2015. Andrea brings over 7 years of experience to Cura HR. Andrea is a results oriented and detailed professional specializing in human resources operations, recruiting, on and off-boarding, performance and personnel management, employee relations, administration, benefits + customer relations.
Andrea joined Cura HR in 2015, providing support on client recruiting needs, support on projects and research support in the development of special programs.
Andrea started her HR Career in 2001 at (i)Structure, a subsidiary of Level 3 Communications. She supported the company in all aspects of human resources management. In 2005, (i)Structure was acquired by Infocrossing, Inc., a Wipro company. In 2007, Andrea retired from the corporate world to focus on her growing family.
Andrea graduated from Parks College with an Associate's Degree in Travel + Tourism and spent the first part of her career in Corporate Travel and enjoying the benefits, travelling from Majorca, Spain to Bora Bora, Tahiti. In 2007, Andrea successfully completed the PHR certification prep course at Regis University. Joy is the newest member of the Cura HR team, joining us in 2016 from Northern Colorado, she is based in Loveland, CO, the Sweetheart City. Joy brings over 12 years of generalist experience in strategic human resources and business partner support to Cura HR.
Before joining Cura HR, Joy was an HR Generalist for various divisions of the General Electric Company across several different states. Over the years her role increased in responsibility and independence. She had the opportunity to support workforces that were local and dispersed, professional, hourly and combined, union and non-union, legacy and recently acquired, across all functional backgrounds. Joy navigated hiring booms, layoffs, major leadership change, more than one company re-organization and the relocation of an entire facility. Joy excels at employee relations, culture change, difficult communications and consultative leadership.
Joy received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and went on to receive a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations degree from Cornell University. She is a graduate of GE's prestigious HRLP program and is a certified LifePlan Facilitator.
Joy prefers staples over paperclips, text over voicemail, naps over marathons, and pandas over penguins. She has a deep and personal attachment to her label maker and knows all the best lines in The Princess Bride. Emily comes to CuraHR with a strong project management, recruiting and onboarding background. She is passionate about people and helping to create an environment where employees can thrive and grow professionally while increasing the productivity and performance of the business.
Before joining CuraHR, Emily was a People Programs Specialist at Sphero and a Recruiting Coordinator at Datalogix/Oracle. She has had the opportunity to build onboarding programs, implement a new HRIS and applicant tracking system for a growing team and introduce tools to focus on employee engagement and culture.
Emily graduated from Montana State University-Billings with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She spent much of her early career as an office manager in multiple industries before deciding to go back to school. She received her Master's degree in Peace and Conflict studies from the University of Sydney in 2008. Emily is always up for an adventure and loves to travel and explore new places and cultures. When she isn't spending time with her husband and son she is out mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding and enjoying Colorado's beautiful outdoors.

Marcey brings over 16 years of extensive human resources experience to the team and strives to maximize employee performance and business strategies to enhance organizational objectives. By engaging with leadership teams, she is able to focus on implementing and establishing policies and procedures in regard to benefits, recruitment, training and development, performance management and employee relations.
Marcey has worked in a variety of industries including hospitality and financial institutions. Prior to joining Cura HR, she was HR Director for 10 years with Omni Hotels and Resorts; a Senior Benefits Manager at Janus Henderson Investors; and Human Resources Manager at Cachematrix, recently acquired by BlackRock Investment Management Company.
Marcey received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Human Resource Management. She studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain at the Spanish American Institute of International Education; and earned her CHRE (Certified Human Resources Executive) designation in 2006.
